Incredible 3-way kidney swap

THE life of a Banton woman has been saved after she and her husband took part in an incredible three-way organ swap.

For more than 25 years, Susan Williams (53), of Valleybank, has suffered from chronic kidney failure.

Her husband of 20 years, Mike (55), has watched helplessly as her condition has deteriorated in recent times, to a point where only three gruelling sessions of dialysis each week, undertaken in their garden shed, have kept her alive.

The couple were dealt a blow when doctors informed them they are not genetically compatible, and so Mike was unable to donate one of his kidneys to his wife.

However, they refused to give up.
