Inspectors praise care service

East Dunbartonshire’s Community Support Team supports vulnerable children and young people who have a range of additional support requirements and their families.

Following an inspection in January the service’s quality of care and support, staff and management and leadership were all rated as Grade 5 (Very Good) by the Care Inspectorate - the second highest grade available.

The Care Inspectorate’s job is to regulate and inspect care, social work and children’s services to ensure vulnerable people are safe, that the overall quality of services improves and people know and understand the standards they have a right to expect.

Councillor Michael O’Donnell, convenor of the Social Work Committee for East Dunbartonshire Council, said: “The Community Support Team provides a high standard of care and support to young people and their families.

“The service engages with people who can be hard to reach and the support they offer is flexible and tailored to meet the individual needs of each service user. It ensures that vulnerable children and young people are

given the opportunity to reach their potential in a safe, nurturing environment.

“The report praises the team for being understanding, insightful, committed to their work and reflective about their practice, and it is pleasing to hear them get the recognition they deserve.

“This is a valued service in the community and the support provided has resulted in some excellent outcomes for young people.”
