Investigation after two cars set on fire in Bothwell

Emergency services were called to reports that two vehicles were ablaze in a driveway on Blairston Avenue around 11pm on Friday (May 13).

The fire was extinguished however the cars, a Mini and a Range Rover, were both extensively damaged.

Two people were seen running from the scene. Both are described as being aged 15 to 25 and of slim build.

One was wearing a black beanie style hat, a dark blue jacket, jeans and dark coloured trainers, while the other was wearing a hooded jacket with darker coloured sleeves, jeans and dark coloured trainers.

Detective Constable Ross Philip of Cambuslang Police Office is appealing for information.

He said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish more details on who is responsible for this wilful fire raising incident and to trace them.

“I am anxious to speak to anyone who was in the area of Blairston Avenue in Bothwell late on Friday evening and saw anything suspicious.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who knows their identity or has any information that may assist our investigation.”
