Is Tobin Bible John?

David, a successful writer and criminology professor at Birmingham University, was in Carluke Library last week to discuss his new book The Lost British Serial Killer – Closing the Case on Peter Tobin and Bible John.

David, who has interviewed some of Britain's most notorious killers, explores the link between Tobin and the infamous murders in Glasgow in the late 1960s.

David was present during the trial of Tobin when he was found guilty of the murder of Dinah McNicol in 2009.

He said: "I was commissioned to write a book about Peter Tobin and it was around that time there was a great deal of speculation about Tobin and the Bible John murders.

"There were lots of reasons to suggest Tobin was not Bible John. Tobin has a scar on his face, while the description of Bible John did not. Tobin is 5ft 9ins with Bible John around 6ft.''

However, during the course of his research David slowly became convinced that Tobin WAS Bible John.
