It's the final countdown for Campsie Mayfest

The majority of the events take place in Milton of Campsie’s Village Hall, from May 13-15.

The festival provides music and art for enjoyment and participation, with everything free except evening the two concerts.

The grand opening with free reception is on Friday, May 13, at 6pm, when it’s hoped the newly-elected local MSP will open the art show and the festival.

There will be live background music from lute, piano and guitar.

As will be case throughout the entire weekend Fairtrade refreshments will be provided.

A donation to hall funds of only £5 gets you into the terrific Factor Forte show on Friday, May 13, at 7.30pm.

This pop cover band, with four players and three singers, perform music from the 60s to the present.

Arrive early and you can also enjoy the art exhibition - which sees 70 framed original paintings up for sale all weekend except on the Saturday morning.

The ‘Young Folk on Stage’ programme is now complete, with children of all ages perform in the ‘open stage’ concert on Saturday, May 14, at 2.30pm.

There are fiddlers, saxophonists, guitarists, dancers and singers, either solo or in groups, in this friendly event.

The free show runs in parallel with the Craft Fair (from 2-4pm) so you can see both if you come early.

Then, later on the Saturday evening, from 7.30pm, for a £5 donation you can hear the incredible ARCARA wind band of recorders, featuring a range of music from baroque to modern African.

Evening concert tickets can be purchased from Milton of Campsie Pharmacy or at the door.

The art workshop ‘Making Faces’ is on Sunday, May 15, at 10.30am.

It’s run by professional artist and caricaturist Derek Gray who invites all those between 10 and 16 to learn how to create the magic ‘key features’ on paper.

Materials are provided but participants can bring their own if they wish - to take part call him on 01360 312 861.

Then there’s the free double jazz-band billing on Sunday afternoon, from 2-4.30pm, with trad and swing of the highest calibre.

The programme is part of Scotland Voluntary Arts week and is supported by East Dunbartonshire Arts Council, with all proceeds going to the hall trust.
