It’s the final countdown to business awards night

The final of the East Dunbartonshire Business Awards 2014 takes place this Friday, May 9.

Ten awards will be presented at the prestigious event to be held in The Eagle Lodge in Bishopbriggs, and there will also be a charity auction and raffle in aid of a number of local organisations.

Former FIFA football referee Willie Young - chairman of a leading Scottish legal firm - will be the guest speaker.

Each winner will receive a trophy, certificate and a branded media pack, including logos for use on websites, company vehicles and other promotional materials.

Tickets are now sold out for the event, which is being entirely funded through ticket sales.

Councillor Alan Moir, convener of East Dunbartonshire Council’s Development and Regeneration Committee, said: “A great deal of work has gone into the organisation of the inaugural East Dunbartonshire Business Awards.

“We received a terrific variety of nominations from the businesses of East Dunbartonshire and it was a tough task for the judges to narrow them down to a shortlist for each category and then select a winner.

“I’m very much looking forward to celebrating local innovation and entrepreneurship at the final on Friday 9 May.

“No matter who the overall winners turn out to be, everyone represented at the awards is a winner.

“I would like to pay tribute to all the businesses and enterprises in East Dunbartonshire who are helping to support the local economy and employment.

“The council is doing everything it can - through our Economic Development and Business Gateway services - to ensure there is support every step of the way for firms, big and small.”
