John gets wired in to help fund

A BRAVE pensioner will be taking a trip across the River Clyde - by zip slide.

John Greenlees, of Eastfield, has remarkably done the challenge before for his chosen cause the Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre, which operates out of Gartnavel Hospital.

The 86-year-old is doing it again on April 13 to help raise money for the cause which is close to his heart.

John’s daughter Jane Stewart successfully battled leukaemia a decade ago, and he likes to do his bit to help others who have endured the condition.

He said: “The Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre is still a relatively new venture. They are doing really good work there and attracting people from all over the world to work there.”

John is an example to all having taken up challenges later in life. He only started running at 58-years-old which led to him taking part in several Glasgow and London marathons.

He said: “Age is just a number. I could be 26 or 106, it doesn’t make a difference.”
