John Greenlees will do leukaemia zipslide aged 87

On April 12 Balloch man John Greenlees is to fly across the Clyde on a zipline - at the age of 87.

When most men his age have long since settled down, John is looking forward to busily raising as much as he can for the Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre, which is part of the University of Glasgow.

John said: “I started fundraising for the centre because my daughter was very ill with leukaemia but fortunately she recovered.

“I have done the zipslide twice before. I got more money the first time I did it than the second, I think that’s because everyone is feeling the pinch.”

The University of Glasgow’s Catherine McGrory said: “John’s energy and enthusiasm is inspiring.

“He has generously supported The Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre for more than ten years - his commitment and passion for supporting leukaemia research is clear.

John is hoping to add significantly to the £1800 he has raised previously.
