Katee's on track for success

The talented teenager recently released a single ‘The Hammer’ and is gearing up for the launch of her new album ‘Beautiful Dreamer’ in March.

On top of that Katee will support folk music legend Dougie MacLean at the Lochwinnoch Arts Festival on March 19 and has her own headline show at the Fort Theatre, Bishopbriggs, on April 2.

Katee said: “I’m really looking forward to the release of my new CD. I’m really delighted with the way it has turned out.

“I’ve written all the songs on the album with the exception of one, which was written by Irish singer/songwriter Jody Gallagher.”

Katee (18), who comes from Bishopbriggs, is a former pupil of Turnbull High School. Music has been a major part of her life since an early age. She appeared at the Perthsire Amber Festival when she was just 11 years old and has since performed at the prestigious music event every year since then.

She has also appeared at the annual Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow - one of the world’s leading folk and acoustic gatherings.

Big influences on Katee’s music are the aforementioned Dougie MacLean and Scottish singer/songwriter Karine Polwart. She’s also a fan of James Bay, whose song ‘Hold Back the River’ was a world-wide hit last year.

Katee said: “I got to support Karine last year and it was a great experience. Now I’m going to be supporting Dougie MacLean at the Lochwinnoch Arts Festival and I’m really looking forward to that.”

In her spare time Katee runs an open mic event for under-18s in the Crow Tavern, Bishopbriggs, on the last Sunday of the month (5pm-7pm).
