Kathleen Hogg bound for Nashville

NASHVILLE-bound is Kathleen Hogg, secretary of the Lanark-based Clydesdale Community Volunteers Activities Group – PLUS around twenty 'Medi-Teddies' for child accident victims in the USA.

Country music fan Kathleen (58), who lives in Douglas Water, plans to go to the famous Grand Ol' Opry to a concert by her all-time favourite, Roy Clark.

The gig will help charities supported by the Nashville Fire Department and, in the messages between the States and Kathleen organising the trip, the firefighters discovered she was coming all the way from Scotland to attend the event.

With that warmed-hearted southern hospitality, the Nashville firefighters sent FOUR free tickets for the concert and said that she would receive full VIP treatment.

Delighted, Kathleen decided to take with her as a gesture of friendship around 20 of the Medi-Teddies, aka `trauma teddies', her group makes for children in stressful situations.

Among the teddies travelling across the Atlantic will be some from the group's most senior teddy-makers, 90-year-old Irene Sanderson. Irene, from Lanark., who has knitted countless bears.
