Kayleigh Neilson continues family tradition

WE all know that galas are family occasions — and that's certainly the case for one local family.

Proud parents Claire and Thomas Neilson are delighted that daughter Kayleigh was selected as a maid for the 2010 Carluke Gala Day.

For Crawforddyke Primary pupil Kayleigh (10) is the SIXTH member of the Neilson family in 15 years to be part of either a local Gala Day or Lanimer Day.

Mum Claire is delighted for her daughter.

She said: "I'm really pleased for Kayleigh and she hasn't stopped going on about it since she found out she had been chosen!

"She has watched her sister and cousins taking part in galas and Lanimers in the past so she is very excited."

Dad Thomas said gala day celebrations were now a regular occurrence for the family.

He added: "I don't know how much money it has cost the family over the years. It must now be running into thousands of pounds but it is

definitely worth it."

Kayleigh's sister Aimie and cousins Stacey, Callie, Stephanie and Josh have all played a central role in gala and Lanimer Day celebrations.
