Kilsyth auntie jumps at the chance to help

Kilsyth woman Wilma Baxter is preparing to put personal fears aside as she prepares for a charity find-raising parachute jump later this month.

“I’m terrified of heights, I’m terrified of flying – but I’m looking forward to my first parachute jump,” said Wilma.

The scene for this eye-watering event is Sunday, September 30, at Perth when she hopes to be accompanied by her friend Stephanie Cairns.

Her chosen charity is Beatson Hospital in Glasgow where her nephew William Wright underwent a major operation about three years ago.

“My nephew was only 17 when he was taken into hospital for the removal of a right-sided tumour and was in the operating theatre for 13 hours as they removed his pelvis, took it to another hospital for checks and replaced it.

“He’s making fairly good progress now and this is my way of saying thanks to the staff who looked after him. So far, I have raised £1,114.

“Stephanie is hoping to be able to do the same jump on September 30 but if she is not able to make it thst day, she hopes to do her parachute jump in mid-October.
