Kilsyth woman wins floral tribute for her business in Partick

A talented Kilsyth woman with a flair for bringing out the best in beautiful blooms has been rewarded for her artistry, after scooping two top awards.

Allie McCann (42) of Monieburgh Crescent ignored the recession by snapping up her own business in Partick six years ago.

And aptly named Lavender Blue positively blossomed since then.

Now the firm has been awarded Scottish Florist of the Year and Scottish Wedding Florist of the Year for Central Scotland.

Allie who is a former pupil of St Maurice’s High School said: “There are so many wonderful florists in Glasgow and Kilsyth so I am very very pleased.

“Three quarters of the work we do is for weddings total of eight out of ten customers we get are the result of word of mouth. We have actually done the flowers for four sisters as they get married.

“We’ve travelled from Southampton to Aberdeen to do flowers.

“It is hard work – there can be no margin for error – but I love it because I have a real passion for flowers and herbs. It just is such a privilege to do this job.”
