Kirk had recently started a new job and was enjoying the responsibilty of being an uncle to 27-year-old brother Colin Jnr's baby daughter Darcy. She was only born a fortnight ago.

As well as Colin Jnr, he was extremely close to brother Chris (22) and 19-year-old sister Melissa.

His parents Colin Snr and Fiona, who live in High Meadow, have been inundated with cards and other messages of support from family and friends in the town.

Colin said: "We have been overwhelmed by all the cards and messages of

support we have had from family and friends.

"It's a cliche but sometimes you want to lock yourself away when something like this happens.

"However, everyone's support has been a great source of comfort.

"It doesn't make it any easier but it is good to know that no-one would say a bad word about Kirk.

"I know people will remember him as a fun-loving guy who loved his family and his friends."

Kirk's funeral will take place on Monday, September 6, at 10.30am in Kirkton Church before moving onto Wilton Cemetery.
