Kirkfieldbank Brae set to close

IT has been confirmed that people living within sight of Lanark in the Clyde Valley will have to take a detour of several miles to get there for almost half of next month.

The main A72 Kirkfieldbank Brae route in and out of the Royal Burgh will be closed for electricity cable laying from April 3 to 17 as will the easiest detour road, the Nemphlar cut Mousemill Road from the village to Lanark via Cartland Bridge.

Drivers trying to get to Lanark from Kirkfieldbank will have to drive several miles in the opposite direction to Garrion Bridge, then on to the Bogside Roundabout at Law before driving through Carluke and Braidwood to reach their destination.

For more information on this story, pick up a copy of this week’s Carluke and Lanark Gazette which is in the shops now.
