Kirkhill pupils go for gold in sports success

Forget gold stars — Kirkhill Primary is to receive a gold flag to boast about its excellent sporting achievements.

The school has been awarded the Sport Scotland Gold Award last week for dedication to quality physical education.

It’s an accolade which the sport committee has been working hard towards, meeting targets in sports leadership opportunitiies for pupils who demonstrate a particular talent for or commitment to sport.

Kirkhill offers every pupil two and a half hours of PE every week, as well as extra-curricular activities and regular one-off events to encourage active and healthy lifestyles.

Acting depute head teacher Lisa David thanks the entire school community for going that extra mile to gain the gold flag.

She told The Extra: “We’re delighted to receive such a prestigious award.

“This is in recognition of all the hard work of our pupils, staff and extended school community who go to the extra mile to make physical education, physical activity and sport such a success at Kirkhill.”
