Kirsten settles into new job as one of Westminster’s 56

“I thought it was a good idea to take time to get to know my way around.” said Kirsten in an exclusive interview with The Extra.

Already confirmed as a member of the party executive group alongside fellow ordinary member Pete Wishart, she is keen to get her vocal chords in tune to keep her promise to be among a new collective voice for Scotland on a wider political landscape.

The first order of business, however, is to get the structures in place for her to manage her time between East Renfrewshire and London.

She said: “I need to get office accommodation in my constituency as well as in London.

“I’d like to give a sincere thank you to all the people who came out to vote and to vote from me.

“It’s no surprise to me that East Ren had the second biggest voting turnout in the country. The people here are so switched on and truly engaged with politics.

“I want to make sure that I put in place systems whereby I can be most accessible, physically and digitally, to my constituents so that they can be sure that their issues are being listened to.”

Kirsten also hopes to find time to continue her Bushido karate classes, which she says “helps focus and discipline physically and mentally”.
