Kirsty Evans crowned Forth Queen of the Heather

HEALTHY crowds quite literally came Forth to see 11-year-old Kirsty Evans crowned Queen of the Heather in glorious sunny conditions at Forth Gala Day on Saturday.

Kirsty, a P7 Forth Primary School pupil who had been a flower girl at a similarly beautiful day six years earlier, was thrilled at how well her big day went.

"It was the best day of my life and a terrific experience for me," she said. "The fact that we got scorching weather made it all the better.

"Getting crowned was definitely the highlight of the whole day.

"There were very big crowds and I was nervous when everybody was watching me.

"But it was absolutely fantastic."

Kirsty was supported on her special day by proud parents Ray and Geraint, brother Mark and sister Rhian.

The whole family put in months of hard work preparing for Saturday, after finding out just after Christmas that Kirsty was the lucky girl whose name had been picked out of the hat.
