Kym Fletcher wins top baking award

And her courgette and pineapple cakes are proving very popular with customers at the Wallace Tea Rooms in Lanark.

Now Kym’s cake-making skills have won her a Scottish Home Baking Award, and a place in next year’s final.

“This tearoom is a perfect example of passionate, committed, dedicated and highly skilled baking in Scotland,” said Melanie Andrews who has organised the awards to recognise outstanding home baking.

Her buttermilk scones, or fruit scones with raspberry go down well, and the SHBA judge was bowled over with her blueberry and lemon scone.

“She really loved that,” said Kym.
