Lanark hip hop squad to represent Scotland in Europe

The Lightning Strikes junior hip hop squad from Lanark will represent Scotland in European dance championships in July this year.

The 14 girls, aged 12-14, won the right to compete in Vienna in July in a contest in Dundee at the end of January.

“It is brilliant,” said Sarah Levine, who started Dance Rite 11 years ago, and the hip hop - a combination of dance and gymnastics - squad six years ago.

Her youth team and under 11s also won at the contest, but not in European qualifiers.

Sarah and fellow coach Elyse Bell will go with the girls to Austria, but there is a lot of fundraising needed, with a race night already planned for April.
