Lanark kids try out new Castlebank Park equipment

DESPITE the weather, youngsters enjoyed trying out the new play area which opened in Castlebank Park this week.

Created by South Lanarkshire Council, it replaces the old equipment at the top of the Lanark park. Benches for parents and grandparents should be installed soon, and the famous arch above the gate put back in place.

The play area is just one step in the renewal of the park. Local school children have been involved in planting trees and a wildflower garden, and Lanark Community Trust has lodged ambitious plans for a horticultural centre based at the old sawmill buildings, with a Lottery application for £250,000 towards the cost.
