Lanark lads meet Olympic hero Chris Hoy

THREE brothers from Lanark got the chance to meet one of Scotland’s greatest ever sportsmen as they chatted to cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy at a motocross track in Rigside.

Luke, Jay and Justin Gunning met the track cycling hero as Sir Chris was filming a documentary on the life of one of Lanark’s most famous sons - Colin McRae.

St Aidan’s High pupils Luke and Jay and St Mary’s Primary pupil Justin were taking part after being selected, along with a few others from all over Scotland, as the top quad bike competitors at the various engine sizes.

Eight-year-old Justin competes in the 50cc competitions while Luke is in the 100cc and Jay in the 250cc. Filming took place at Tinto Park MX Track, owned by Robbie Allan, where the lads were asked to race around the circuit several times for the camera-men.

The highlight of the day for the boys was not only meeting Sir Chris, who was a big fan of Colin McRae, but chatting with him about racing. It will certainly be a day to remember for the lads.
