Lanark Memorial Hall refurbishment is on schedule

IT might look all quiet on the Lanark Memorial Hall front ... but it isn’t.

That is the official response to worries expressed at the latest meeting of Lanark Community Council that, from the outside at least, the £5m four-year project to totally refurbish the hall has ground to a halt.

The concerns were raised by community council vice-chairman Leonard Gray who told the meeting that there “didn’t seem much going on at all” at the former Cargill Club end of the building, the part of the project most visible to the public from St Leonard Street, leading him to wonder if the works were still on schedule for a summer, 2012 re-opening.
