Lanark Panto Club celebrate 50th anniversary with oldest and youngest member

The Gazette thought it would be a fun – and touching – way to mark the start of celebrations of the 50th anniversary show of Lanark Panto Club by getting the oldest surviving member together with the very youngest stage recruit!

And, with the help of club office bearers, we united for this special photocall the most senior founder member of the club, Doris Peacock, with five-year-old Kiera Wright, 81 years her junior.

Back in 1962 Doris, then in her mid-thirties and one of the dancers, took part in the very first production Dick Whittington.

At the opposite end of the generation gap, Kiera will be taking part in her very first production as a member of the Panto junior section next month when it stages its fifth annual production, Pinnochio, in Greyfriars Church on October 7 and 8.
