Lanark Primary to be demolished to make way for new school

The consolation for the 214 Lanark Primary pupils is that, following commuting between the two towns for possibly up to two years, they will have a brand new £6.2 millon state-of-the-art school waiting for them to move into.

The education authority South Lanarkshire Council has gone through the formality of applying to itself for permission to pull down the now badly-ageing post-war buildings on Rhyber Avenue and construct a completely new campus there, including a main school building, nursery and multi-games pitch.

On the safety side, there is to be full CCTV camera coverage of the campus and a new security fence.

The move to the redundant Crawforddyke Primary in Carluke begins in the summer although it is still unclear if it will be before or after the holidays.
