Lanark’s EU Pastor Fred McDermid dies at the age of 87
LANARK has lost one of its best-loved and highly respected public figures of the post-war era, Fred McDermid.
The recently-retired pastor of the town’s EU Congregational Church died last week at the age of 87.
Although a Stonehouse resident for over half a century, Fred made many friends during his years of service to the people of Clydesdale.
It is a mark of the man that he is also being mourned in places as far afield as Africa and Canada too.
