Lanark’s Hope Cafe opens Mandy’s Place

Lanark-based Hope Cafe, which aims to end the stigma of mental health in Clydesdale, was delighted to welcome the family of Mandy Lindsay to its new premises in Wide Close.

They were there to open a new room dedicated to her memory.

Mandy took her own life in 2009 – she was just 24 years of age.

Since then her family have raised £60,000 through their Supermandy Fund to help mental health charities carry out their work.

A chance meeting with Hope Cafe founder Donna Barrowman in May last year led the family to donate £5,000 to enable the charity to secure its own premises.

A further £5,000 was donated on the official opening of ‘Mandy’s Place’, enabling the cafe to open on a Saturday.
