The Community Council is asking townspeople to gather in the open space beside the Tolbooth to observe the silence and have a moment of prayer.

The silence is being observed nationally at noon, a week after the outrage in which holidaymakers were killed in a terror attack, and flags will be flown at half-mast over Whitehall departments and Buckingham Palace.
