Due to be unveiled on Friday, June 21, in Market Place, it will be a fitting tribute to the men who fought and died for the Yeomanry, taking pride of place alongside memorials honouring Carluke’s Victoria Cross winners – including Yeomanry soldier Sgt Thomas Caldwell – and the town’s other war dead.

During WWII, over 500 members of the 155th Lanarkshire Yeomanry were taken prisoner by the Japanese and slaved for years in hell camps spread all over the Far East.
