Lanimer Day 2011

STARS were out in force – even if the sun wasn’t – for Lanark’s annual Lanimer Day spectacle.

Lanark rivalled Las Vegas for star turns with Elvis, Elton, The Beatles and even Beetlejuice making guest appearances.

Also doing the town proudly, as always, was an army of well dressed and turned out youngsters in an astonishing array of wonderful costumes.

Lanimer Queen Madeleine Millar rated the celebrations in the town as “one of the best days of my life”.

The 12-year-old New Lanark Primary School pupil was crowned at Lanark Cross by Crowning Lady Senga Hamilton, after being whisked through the town in a classic car as part of the Lanimer procession.

And our photographer Lindsay Addison was on hand to capture all the action. The pictures, featured in our slideshow, are priced £5 each and can be purchased from our offices in Carluke and Lanark on 01555 772802 or 678792. They can also be purchased from the Photos Today section on this website.
