Lanimer Procession 2016 winners - video

Out of Africa by The Broons was the hit of Lanimer morning in Lanark, as the huge centrepiece of over 130,000 paper flowers, featuring a jungle, ruins and even a waterfall made its way down the High Street.

The large pageant, with its scores of dancing youngsters, picked up the Wallace Shield on its first appearance then, after the procession finished, it was announced as the winner of the Silver Bell, for the most outstanding entry on the move.

And Karen Brown did not need asked twice to come up to collect the award, the latest in a long line of triumphs for her family.

Winner of the Vancouver Shield was Fiesta Espanola, a massive pageant from St Mary’s Primary School, culminating in a Spanish dancer backed by a beautiful fan.
