Latest figures reveal grim Covid-19 death toll in East Dunbartonshire

Latest figures reveal the extent of the death toll locally from Covid-19.

More than 120 people have now died from coronavirus in East Dunbartonshire - the overwhelming amount in care homes.

The latest Covid-19 figures from the National Records of Scotland were published yesterday (Wednesday, May 27).

Of the 122 people who passed away with Covid-19 on their death certificate locally - 82 were in care homes. That’s more than two thirds of the total.

According to the figures, broken down into local authority areas, 36 people have died in hospital from the virus in East Dunbartonshire and four have passed away at home/non institution.

The total number of people in East Dunbartonshire who have tested positive with the virus since the outbreak is 413 from the local authority area population of 108,000.
