Learn volunteering skills at Wiston Lodge this Saturday

YOUNG people are being offered the chance to volunteer and learn skills which could help them in the future at Wiston Lodge, near Biggar.

And they are invited along this Saturday, March 29 to learn skills from face-painters, drummers and games organisers.

“They can learn quite unusual skills but if they want to go into childcare, sports, youth work or community work, the training and experience could really help them,” said Wendy Johnstone, volunteering development worker at Wiston Lodge.

She has already given a presentation at Biggar High School and has one lined up at Lanark.

But the Skills Development Day is open to all young people over 16, including those who have already left school.Wiston Lodge is already building up a reputation for its work with volunteers, and has just won the Volunteer Friendly Award.
