Leatherjackets pose a risk to grassland
STUDIES show that leatherjackets pose a risk in certain areas.
Dow AgroSciences’ ADAS and SAC surveys of leatherjacket numbers in grassland throughout England and Scotland have concluded that there is a medium to low risk of leatherjacket presence in cereals and a low risk in grassland with the exception of Yorkshire and certain areas in Scotland.
These surveys indicated that there is a risk to susceptible crops such as spring barley and sugar beet.
