AGAINST the odds, Lesmahagow Agricultural Show basked in warm sunshine on Saturday, encouraging people to stay on and enjoy the atmosphere after the animals were judged and admired.

And around 1000 people turned out to Brocketsbrae to see the livestock and the best of the area’s crafts and baking and to cheer on sheep-shearers and tug-of-war teams in action in the first of Clydesdale’s farming shows.

“I booked the weather in January,” joked Lesmahagow Farmers’ Society secretary Isabella Christie, who was suffering from sunburn afterwards! “It was a super day.”
