Two-thirds of people living in the West of Scotland have seen litter dropped, either accidentally or on purpose, in the past three months.

Reader Lynne Ferguson told the Herald on Facebook: “It’s terrible outside the fast food joints in Kirkintilloch main street during term time at lunchtime. It all just encourages the seagulls too.”

Simon Campbell added: “The park opposite Bishopbriggs Academy, Westercleddens Road in general and Cowgate, Kirkintilloch, are a disgrace with the school kids.

“If children are to be allowed outside during school hours then they should not be served at the fast food places.”

Another reader said: “The Clachan of Campsie, in summer, is blighted by people who are either too lazy or too stupid to remove their rubbish when they leave.”

Louise Barry said: “I agree it is a West of Scotland epidemic. Local bugbear is people throwing McDonald’s packaging out of cars along Glasgow Road, Kilsyth Road and especially Birdston Road.”
