The husband of Jo Cox has since urged people to “fight against the hatred” that killed his wife.

As a mark of respect to Jo Cox the three local councillors decided to each lay a bunch of roses (yellow, pink and orange) at the war memorial in Milngavie.

Councillor Eric Gotts said: “This was a simple ceremony to commemorate the humanitarian values that permeated her short life.

“Jo ‘s tragic death reminds us all that we have more in common with each other than things that divide us.”
