Local verdict on Carluke’s new stadium

DESPITE bitingly cold temperatures, large numbers of people attended Monday’s five hour public open evening at the new £3.5 million John Cumming Stadium in Carluke’s Carnwath Road.

And the chilly weather certainly didn’t curb the enthusiasm of those interviewed by the Gazette at the stadium named after the late, great football legend.

Among others in our vox-pop was 78-year-old Carluke man Alex Wilson, a long time friend of John’s who played in the same youth team.

“The new stadium is absolutely beautiful,” said Alex.
