Loving couple needs your votes

A southside couple is hoping that Extra readers’ voting power can help them win their dream wedding package.

Chris Dickinson, 35, and his fiancee Melodie, 30, have entered a competition that promises winners a bumper wedding package worth £28,000.

They have made it to the finals of the We Fell In Love contest where votes make prizes. The pair are up against three other couples - two from Edinburgh and the other from Aberdeenshire. The couple that gets the most votes gets to go down the aisle in style with a fairytale wedding dress for the bride and all the acoutrements; plus, their entourage, bridesmaids, the groom and ushers will all be kitted out for the big day.

And all their guests will be wined and dined at a sumptuous reception at Hopetown House, South Queensferry, in November.

Chris and Mel have got right into the spirit of things, having special t-shirts printed and making cupcakes to hand out at Central Station to encourage as many votes as they can muster.

The couple joined in the festivities this week at the Merchant City Festival, too, with Chris dressing up in wedding dress and tiara.

Chris, who works with adults with disabilities, went to St Ninian’s high school and lived in Clarkston before moving to Shawlands where he now lives with his Australian-born love. The couple met through friends at Cartha rugby club.

The voting is done through Facebook but time is of the essence as voting closes this Friday, July 31 — so get clicking.
