Major works to start on Ayr Road early next year

Major road works are planned for Ayr Road early in the New Year.

Road resurfacing works are programmed to start on site on Monday, January 19 until Sunday, February 15.

The work will be completed in four phases

Phase 1 on Elmwood Avenue to 138 Ayr Road will involve the resurfacing of the full width carriageway, permanent removal of the central reserve, installation of parking bays to the southbound carriageway and a new pedestrian crossing. All roads will remain open for this phase.

Phase 2 on Ayr Road at Crookfur Road junction will involve the resurfacing of the northbound carriageway. Crookfur Road at its junction with Ayr Road and Ayr Road northbound between Barrhead Road and Crookfur Road will be closed.

Phase 3 at 138 Ayr Road to Crookfur Road Roundabout will involve the resurfacing of the southbound carriageway and associated side road junctions. Roads closed will include Ayr Road southbound between 138 Ayr Road and Crookfur Road Roundabout; Kinfauns Drive at its junction with Ayr Road, Broomvale Drive at its junction with Ayr Road and Knowes Avenue at its junction with Ayr Road.

Phase 4 from Crookfur Road Roundabout to 159 Ayr Road will involve resurfacing of the southbound carriageway. Roads closed will include Ayr Road southbound between Crookfur Road Roundabout and 159 Ayr Road; Firwood Road at its junction with Ayr Road and Shaw Road at its junction with Ayr Road.

Diversion routes will redirect traffic where necessary.
