Teddy Bears charity gala dinner where the huge donation was unveiled.

The Teddy Bear Foundation has received its biggest-ever donation, a staggering £53,675 from Barratt Homes West of Scotland.

It has been chosen as the housebuilder’s charity of choice, culminating in a dinner at Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel.

That meant all of the money generated by the glittering evening was given to the charity.

Co-founder Jenny Chuwen outlined the work done by Teddy Bear to alleviate some of the difficulties faced by special needs kids and their families.

“You could have heard a pin drop in the function room - despite the presence of more than 400 people – when video stories of children we have helped were shown on the big screen”, she said.

Co-founder Barry Chuwen, who also attended the event, gave his reaction to the giant sum raised. He said:”It’s an absolute fortune.

“I would like to thank Barratt Homes West of Scotland and all the people who contributed to this amazing figure through their generosity.

“People at the dinner were genuinely moved when they saw how Teddy Bear spends its money.

“I’m sure that encouraged the guests to dig even deeper in their pockets.

“This incredible donation will allow us to improve the quality of life for some of the country’s most disadvantaged children.”

As well as a number of speeches, the night saw a successful raffle and auction, conducted by Dougie Jackson.

Principal guests included Barratt West of Scotland Managing Director, David Scott, and the company’s Regional Director, Doug McLeod.
