Joe Brannan, who is based at Springburn Academy and works in several North Glasgow schools, has been selected to be a member of the first group of Malawi Leaders of Learning.
He will head out to Malawi in June with other Glasgow City Council staff after being chosen by a special selection panel.

Maureen McKenna, executive director of education at Glasgow City Council, said: “This group will lead the way in our aim to share expertise with our friends in Malawi. We have chosen a varied mix of people with a wealth of talents and abilities.
“I know they will be a credit to Glasgow and everyone is really excited about the next few months.
Joe added: “This is the first time I have went to another country like Malawi to participate in a project like this - and I am excited.”
Joe will host a charity football match on Thursday, May 10, at Ashfield FC’s Saracen Park.

A whole host of sporting celebrities are expected to take part in the match, which has a 7pm kick off, including boxer Willie Limond, ex-Dundee player Eddie Annand, Celtic legend Bertie Auld and former Rangers player Charlie Miller to name a few.
The event will also attract pupils from a number of schools including Springburn Academy and All Saints Secondary, who will have the opportunity to take part in a quickest goal from the line competition.
Joe said: “I think the whole experience of going to Malawi will be positive in terms of learning as I will be able to learn new things over there and take them back with me to teach to pupils in the schools here.”
Tickets for the event are £3 for adults and £2 for kids.
