Man dies in motorway crash

Around 10.40pm Paul Newall (30) from Larkhall was travelling south on his Kawasaki motorbike when it collided with a white Mazda 2 car that was travelling in the same direction.

The accident occurred at junction 7 near Larkhall. Mr Newall died at the scene, the 43-year-old female driver of the car was not injured.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Billy Broatch of Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses.

He said: “I’d like to speak to anyone who witnessed this crash or anyone who saw the motorcyclist travelling on the M74 along with another motor bike just prior to the crash taking place.”
