Man jailed after dad-of-three is murdered in Kirkintilloch

A MURDERER has been jailed for at least 16 years after bludgeoning a man to death.

Joseph Ramage (39) killed Stewart Barrett in Ramage’s Kirkintilloch home last November.

Mr Barrett’s body was dumped in woods near to Carron Valley reservoir in Stirlingshire where it was found by a dog walker.

After disposing of the body Ramage and friend Paul McManus redecorated the living room and hallway of the house in a bid to cover up the crime.

Following trial, Ramage was convicted of murdering Mr Barrett and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

McManus was convicted of helping Ramage cover up the murder.

Temporary judge Sean Murphy QC imposed a life sentence on Ramage and order him to serve a minimum of 16 years before he could be considered for parole.

Judge Murphy jailed McManus for five years.
