Man jailed after police seize £600k worth of cannabis

At the High Court at Glasgow on Tuesday November 22, Martin Day was sentenced to three years and four months after he pled guilty to the supply of cannabis.

In January 2016, as a result of a police operation, Day was caught in possession of 495 kilos of cannabis resin at his workplace in Springburn, Glasgow. The total street value of the drugs recovered was more than £618,750.

Detective Chief Inspector Kenny Gray from the East Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit, said: “Day played a key role in the distribution of harmful drugs throughout the west and north of Scotland.

“This sentencing sends a clear message to those involved in serious and organised crime that this will not be tolerated, and we will identify those responsible for crimes of this nature, and take robust action.

“Tackling drugs remains a priority for Police Scotland and we will act on any intelligence we receive, and work with our partners at the Crown Office Procurator Fiscal Service to stop people benefitting from criminal activity.”
