Man stabbed during attempted murder

Police enquiries are continuing into the attempted murder of a young man in North Glasgow in broad daylight on Friday.

There was an altercation between a 24 year-old man, two other men and a woman in Balmore Road around 10.30am. The 24-year-old was then stabbed by one of the men.

The attack is believed to have taken place on the road opposite the bus stop, near to Balmore Square in the Saracen area.

The victim suffered serious stab wounds and was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where medical staff described his condition as serious but stable.

The three people then made their way up Balmore Road toward the Lambhill area.

The suspect was described as white, in his early 20s, around 5ft 8ins tall, medium build with short dark hair.

He was wearing a grey hooded tracksuit top with a black t-shirt, grey jogging bottoms and white trainers.

The other man was described as white, also in his early 20s and around 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing an orange hooded top with dark jeans and black trainers.

The woman was described as white, in her early 20s, with a thin petite build.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and are in the process of collecting CCTV images from in and around the area for review.

Detective Sergeant Alan Cuthbert said: “It’s not clear what the motive was for this particular attack. I’m sure it would have been witnessed by passers by and motorists. There are also a number of business premises and we are keen to hear from owners and staff. If you have any knowledge or information about the incident or the suspect, please do get in touch.”
