Man stabbed in unprovoked attack

A KILSYTH man was the victim of a stabbing – and it is thought that the perpetrator could be as young as 14.

The shocking incident occurred in Main Street around 1.30am on Saturday (November 11) when the 34-year-old Kilsythian found himself the victim of an unprovoked attack.

It is believed that the man had been walking with friends when he became involved in an altercation with his attackers. As a result he was stabbed in the back and had to be rushed to hospital.

Police urgently want to speak to the young suspect, who is described as being around 5ft 5in tall, of slim build and wearing a dark hooded top.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Abronhill was the scene of a shocking unprovoked attack which saw a teenager set upon in broad daylight.

The incident happened last Friday around 2.45pm when the 17-year-old left his home and made his way along a lane between Spruce Road and Medlar Road.

It was at this point he was pounced upon by a group of youths who threw bottles and cans at him then launched punches and kicks at their victim.

Luckily, the teen was not badly injured and was able to provide police with a distinctive description of one particular suspect.

He is a heavily-built redhead who is of heavy build and who was wearing a Celtic away top and grey jogging bottoms.

Elsewhere, a 40-year-old man from Cumbernauld has been arrested in Muirhead on drugs offences after police stopped his car.

According to police the swoop took place in Cumbernauld Road at 10.20pm on Saturday (November 12) when a search recovered a quantity of cannabis and diamorphine.

And Seafar was the scene of a drugs arrest on Friday (November 11) after a teenager was stopped by police.

It is understood that officers saw a 16-year-old male behaving suspiciously in Burns Road around 6.30pm. He was searched and was allegedly found with quantity of cannabis.
