Margaret Murray is Carluke's top citizen

Margaret was presented with her award at the Rotary's Christmas night, for her outstanding service to the town over many years.

Modest Margaret was just pleased to be recognised.

She said: "I was honoured to win the award. I was given the news by a Rotary Club member and when he came to see me I was gobsmacked.

"All of my family were very pleased for me including my husband Alan, son Fraser and daughter Laura who accompanied me on the night.

"I enjoy doing all the things that I do. For me it doesn't take a lot of time. The most important thing is that I enjoy doing them and make a lot of new friends."
