Marion makes presence felt during first year as MP

Marion Fellows has made her presence known at Westminster

In her first year Mrs Fellows made 68 contributions in Westminster which includes questions to Government departments and speeches during debates.

Figures released by They Work For You show the highest number of contributions Frank Roy made was 46 in his final year as an MP.

Mr Roy averaged 14 contributions per year, in three separate years he made no contributions at all, and during nine of his 18 years he made less than ten contributions.

Mrs Fellows said: “During the general election campaign and after I was elected, I pledged to stand up for our communities and Scotland. And that is what I have done.

“I went to Westminster to raise peoples’ concerns and keep the Tory Government accountable. I have done so by questioning the Prime Minister on three separate occasions as well as other government ministers.

“I have raised local and national issues ranging from shipyard jobs, autism, the National Minimum Wage and fuel poverty.

“An important issue has been the potential closure of our local steelworks. I have debated the subject on numerous occasions in Parliament. This was part of a collective effort which ultimately secured a future for steel in Scotland and jobs in our community.

“For far too long, the voices of people living in the constituency were not heard at Westminster. I have sought to change that and I will continue to work hard for the communities in Motherwell, Wishaw and Bellshill in the years to come.”
