Marjorie Romer will crown Lanimer Queen

THE popular choice for this year's Lanimer Crowning Lady is Marjorie Romer.

Although her family name has been closely linked to the Lanimers and Lanark tradition for decades, when Marjorie mounts the crowning stand on June 10 this year, it will only be the second time in her 71 years that she has ever done so!

Indeed, the last time was way back at the first proper Lanimers after World War 2 in 1946 when she was "a wee Rainbow Fairy" in her dance class's Procession entry.

She said the news had cheered her up no end, having been in plaster since breaking her ankle two weeks ago.

And the lady who will be expected to ascend the wooden mountain of steps on the Lanimer stand did so — by slipping on the stairs at home in Hospitland Drive!
